BANDS ROCK SEASON 5 KICK-OFF OF THE STOOP CONCERT SERIES IN LANDMARK HELL’S KITCHEN CHURCH
Powerhouse bands heat up The Stoop’s Season Kick-Off in Hell’s Kitchen
NEW YORK, New York – August 17, 2012 – The Stoop, a distinctive music venue in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen is thrilled to present a night of indie soul, rock, and pop featuring Blessing Offor (Bravo’s “Platinum Hit”), Lachi & Meridian Gold, and The Northern on Saturday, September 15th.
Blessing Offor’s incomparable musicianship has not gone unnoticed having performed at The Kennedy Center three times already. With influences from every end of the music spectrum, Blessing Offor is a well-rounded artist - from playing multiple instruments, to singing, writing his own music and lyrics, and arranging, Mr. Offor provides an all-encompassing musical experience. Offor, a 2010 VSA International Young Soloists Award recipient, has performed as the opening act for such legends as The Temptations, Average White Band, Tower of Power, and New Orleans blues legend Dr. John. He contributed “Winter Wonderland” to a compilation Christmas record with artists such as Aaron Nevel, Amy Grant, and The Beach Boys. He most recently won over new fans showcasing his serious songwriting chops as a favorite on Bravo’s “Platinum Hit”.
Lachi has been featured on Oprah Radio, MTV Iggy, NPR, CBS Radio, The Onion, and various other entertainment outlets not to mention her performances at a growing list of famed venues and festivals including Joe’s Pub, SXSW, and more. She and her full band have drawn in a loyal following with her haunting melodies and lyrics complemented by her piano stylings. Lachi is a force to be reckoned with, as she wields the melodies and composes songs inspired by life’s trials with a grace like no other. Simply put, Lachi is “the real deal”. – Errick Ashong of Oprah Radio
The Northern was birthed as a collaboration of brothers Jimmy and David Chalk in the woods of Garden Ridge, TX. Relocating to NYC in the summer of 2006, the brothers embraced this change of scenery by finishing an EP with their newly formed band and playing shows around the NYU campus, even performing on stage during soon-to-be President Barack Obama's 2007 Washington Square Rally, garnering attention from NPR, St. Johns University Torch, and more. They have since earned much respect in the NYC music scene frequenting venues such as The Mercury Lounge, Bowery Poetry Club, and The Bitter End.
The event will be emceed by Chris MacIntosh (aka “Grandfather Rock”) of WCWP Radio. MacIntosh will also be celebrating his 31st Anniversary of his show “Rock N Soul Gospel”. Doors open at 7:30 pm., and showtime is at 8pm. While the concert is free/pay-what-you-wish, The Stoop will be accepting suggested donations of $12. Receive a free gift with the full suggested cover. All drinks and concessions including beer and wine are inexpensively priced under $5.
