Thought Experiment is the debut solo release from singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vanessa Cardui. It is a complex exploration of the many faces of love, which defies genre classification and displays raw, naked emotional expression. The sound is intimate, acoustic and natural, though at times experimental, featuring a wide range of sounds from guitars, mandolins and fiddles to pipes, bells, ocean drums, spoken word, and the movement of water.
Vanessa Cardui is best known as the lead singer and songwriter for the local rock band Heroincredible, but has pursued a number of other collaborative projects over the past two years which have had a profound influence on her solo material. This concert will therefore celebrate not only the release of Thought Experiment, but also the friendship and inspiration of three remarkable female artists: Linda Faye Gwenhwfar Miller, a truly unique singer-songwriter whose crystalline classical voice is alternately chilling and ennobling; Sora, the celebrated songstress whose fascinating songs ring with the profound truth of folklore; and Karen Sim, genre-straddling violinist and composer who marries reverence for her Celtic heritage to the creative possibilities of blues, jazz, world, and experimental music. These three artists will be featured, both as solo performers showcasing their original material, and, together with percussionist Paul Marlett, as honoured guests helping to recreate, in part, the rich instrumental landscapes of Thought Experiment.
You and your friends and family are invited to attend this very special evening of music. Tickets are on sale now for $12.
