BOSS US National Loop Champion Angela Sheik is a fierce vocal- and multi-instrumentalist who wows audiences with her fast effects pedal footwork and mischievous smile. She builds her own virtual backup band using rhythmic harmonies, beatbox rhythms, a looper pedal, and a collection of unusual instruments (including autoharp, theremin, and flute). This, combined with soulful, memorable, gut-felt melodies, blends into an electronic-infused, folk-pop style reminiscent of Imogen Heap.
Angela’s passion for music began with an out-of-tune piano and a second hand flute while growing up in a small town outside Buffalo, NY. After years of classical study in flute, piano, and voice, Angela began taking steps away from the role of a traditional performer. She has slowly become what she describes as “an acoustic disc jockey." Now, performing a mix of original and artfully arranged cover material, she is a riveting and emotionally compelling entertainer. In 2011 she was named Artist of the Year and Female Artist of the Year by 93.7 WSTW Hometown Heroes. In March 2013 her version of “Can't Help Falling In Love” was nominated for Best Cover Song by the Independent Music Awards.
The Angela Sheik experience brings you a full breadth of emotion and expression. “I work hard to make each act spell-binding,” she says. “I want my audience to laugh, nod, remember, forget, dance. I want their eyes to tear up. I feel it’s my job to explore the beautiful complexities of the human spirit from the stage."
