The Chicago Jazz String Summit will highlight the achievements of string players nationally and internationally who are making bold statements in the world of jazz and improvised music today; players who are developing new techniques and languages and pushing the boundaries of what is possible for stringed players. The festival will also serve to foster community amongst improvising string players and to encourage and inspire a new generation of improvising stringed musicians. Sponsored by Arts and Public Life at The University of Chicago; the Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture at The University of Chicago; Hyde Park Jazz Festival; Rebuild Foundation; Southwest Airlines; and WDCB Public Radio.
