Mother of Pearl is pleased to announce the release of our 7" Vinyl (2 song) single - Our Love/These Walls. Shawn Smith opens the night and Surrealized will take your restless souls into the blissful night... This is a free show! MOTHER OF PEARL Born from the minds & hearts of five abnormally gifted Seattle musicians, Mother Of Pearl has been leaving a rare, powerful impression on the minds & hearts of music lovers throughout the Seattle area, beginning with their live debut in November 2013. Drawing from a widely-cast net of influences (listeners have reported traces of rock/pop/jazz/r&b/trip-hop, among many other genres) and an embarrassment of riches in the musicianship department (each member ranks among Seattle's most in-demand studio musicians), the band has quickly established renown for their meticulously crafted & distinctive songwriting, their commanding live shows & their utterly seamless ensemble mentality. Over the course of their young performance career, Mother Of Pearl have shared the stage with a plethora of widely-known & diverse artists such as Blake Lewis (who frequently "borrows" the band for his own live shows in the Seattle area), The Fall Of Troy, Skerik, Allen Stone, RA Scion, Tess Henley & Vox Mod (among many others), upon stages ranging from Showbox Sodo to The Crocodile Cafe to Chop Suey to Columbia City Theater to the annual Summer Meltdown Festival (among many others). Mother Of Pearl are currently preparing for the release of their debut single "Our Love/These Walls" (available December 19th 2015 on 7" vinyl, CD & digital download). www.motherofpearlband.com SURREALIZED SURREALIZED, is a scintillating musical project by an ensemble of Seattle musicians who seemingly come from disparate disciplines. Lyrically, as you might expect with a name such as “SURREALIZED,” the songs are written and delivered in an almost coded manner speaking to the soul as much as the mind – all for the purpose of a higher, ethereal sense of communication. SURREALIZED harkens back to the synth-pop/wave fueled 80's in one way, but crunches along in a guitar driven romp in other ways, while simultaneously drawing on dreamy, electrobeat driven, psychedelic anthems. Live Surrealized utilizes a vivid Light show with multiple video projections that further enhance the psychedelic ambiance. Surrealized has shared the stage with many national and International acts, most notably Bonobo, Amon Tobin, Kid Koala, Daedelus, Yippah and More. www.surrealized.com SHAWN SMITH Shawn Smith is a Seattle-based songwriter, vocalist and musician in several bands (Brad, Satchel, Pigeonhed) and also as a solo artist. He was born in Spokane, Washington. Smith has cited Freddie Mercury, Prince and KISS as early influences. Other influences he has noted are Steven Tyler, Bon Scott, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Andy Wood and Chris Cornell. It is easy to hear the impact of all of these varied performers in Smith's various projects. In 2005, Smith unveiled a musical project called "The Diamond Hand" involving many musicians. He also has worked with Thaddeus Turner (formerly of Maktub and many other projects including Brad) under the name Forever Breakers. "From the North" is Shawn's newest band with core members of Malfunkshun (Regan Hagar, Kevin Wood, Cory Kane) and the lyrics left by the late Andrew Wood. Since 2006, the band has also been billed as "Power of Wings" and "Von Nord" (allegedly meaning "From the North" in German; whereas this actually reads "vom Norden" or "aus dem Norden"). Hagar has since been replaced by Seattle drummer Mike Hommel. The band changed its name in July 2008 to All Hail the Crown and plans to release new music under this banner. Shawn is to set out on a solo tour of the UK in April/May 2015 and also visit Dublin for the first time. www.shawnsmithsinger.com
