Chabliz

Chabliz is an adventurous pop-noir, artpop and gothicjazz trio with an enchanting female vocalist with a 4 octave vocal range, using a wide range of vocal techniques. 4 released albums: a live album and 3 studio albums, plus a bunch of singles/ EP's. Chabliz got a lot of excellent press reviews in the Dutch and international media. Watch the 'reviews' page on their website www.chabliz.com for more info. Piano, analogue synths, double bass and sometimes drums, cello and guitars. The previous album, 'Heroes and Foes' is released in the autumn of 2022. 'Straight Stories,' was released in the Autumn of 2017. Chabliz also released singles and EP's in 2021 & 2023. In 2024 a new music video (Senta) has been released. A new EP is due to be released in 2025. Featured artist in one of the Chabliz-songs is the famous Dutch musician Fay Lovsky (on theremin and singing saw). Chabliz took up influences from dreampop, indierock and gothic jazz. Names like Nick Cave, Nina Hagen, Kate Bush, Beach House, Nico & many more artists influenced them. Chabliz won the Public Prize at the Delft Fringe Festival. During corona Chabliz worked on new repertoire and gave several livestream concerts. Watch them on their YouTube channel, youtube.com/chabliz. Chabliz released several music videos between 2013 and 2025 & they gave many concerts, in Holland and abroad. In 2016 Chabliz did a little tour in New York City, USA, as a trio, with 4 concerts, one of them at the Real Radio Show.

Singer-songwriter Petra de Winter signed a record deal with major CNR-Arcade in the past. She performed at stages all over the world including London, Copenhagen and Tunisia. In Holland she was a guest of Paul de Leeuw at his popular national TV show. Petra has also worked with other Dutch musicians and producers, such as Holger Schwedt, Arie Spaans (Suburbs), Daniel Derks (ex-de Dijk), Hans Eijkenaar, Michel van Schie, Shell Schellekens, Nicko C & Tjeerd van Zanen. She was the leadsinger of musical theatre group “Danse Macabre”. She studied at the DJAM and the Royal Conservatory. She also does studio work (vocals) for producers in several studios, and she is singer-songwriter in the Copenhagen- based band Olsen Winter.
Double bass player Marcel Peters has performed several times @ the North Sea Jazz Festival. He also accompanied jazz vocalist Faye Claassen and Mariska Veres (of Shocking Blue fame).
Pianist Pim van Riezen had some small hits with several dance songs on the Rave Records label. He studied music technology at the faculty of Art, Media and Technology of the Utrecht School of the Arts. Pim plays pop, classic organ and jazz piano. His extra speciality is recording, mixing and producing. He also loves and plays on vintage synthesizers. Pim has taken up a leading role in getting the previous self-produced album off the ground.

Chabliz’ studio album “Nightporter” has been produced by Wim Oudijk. He had several top 40 hits with his band ‘Navel’. Wim produced a.o. “Venus Flytrap”, “Attila the Stockbroaker” and the famous Dutch phenomenon “Doctorandus P”. With him Wim produced a few big top 20 hits in Holland. Unfortunately he passed away.

Chabliz did 5 short tours of Romania (Bucharest) at the Jeunesses Musicales Festival and played there again at the EUROPAFEST festival, and at the Hardrock Cafe. Their concerts were broadcasted on the Romanian Television. Chabliz played extensively all over Holland, in all sorts of clubs, at festivals, theatres and other venues. Some highlights are the several clubcircuit-stages and festivals all over Holland, The Hague Jazz Festival (where they played dark jazz), the dutch “Popronde," Festival de “Falckhof Affaire” & live radio concerts, also in NYC, USA.
