Doctor Paul

Doctor Paul is a true modern troubadour. After appearing on NBC’s The Voice (Season 9), he hit the road with his I Ain’t Done Yet tour, sharing his music with new fans from the Gulf Coast to Music City and far beyond.

Known for his soulful acoustic performances, he brings a fresh perspective to beloved classics and uncovers unexpected beauty in lesser‑known songs. His interpretations feel both new and familiar, shaped by a powerful voice and a signature fingerstyle guitar approach that turns every show into an intimate journey.

He has collaborated with respected artists and recorded alongside top Nashville session players, but it’s onstage—stripped down to voice and guitar—where Doctor Paul is most himself. Each performance is an invitation to slow down, listen closely, and be carried somewhere both unexpected and deeply familiar.

Doctor Paul grew up in New Jersey, where his love of music began in an unexpected way: as an avid electronics experimenter, he built a custom amplifier for a friend’s electric guitar. That project sparked a lifelong connection. After getting his first guitar in his early teens, he began performing at parties and backyard gatherings, drawing on a wide range of influences—country & western, doo‑wop, R&B, soul, jazz, folk, and the rock & roll that defined his generation.

Following a tour in the United States Army, he returned home in 1971 and joined his first band as both lead singer and bass player. What began as a passion quickly grew into a full‑time musical career. Through the 1970s and early 1980s, Doctor Paul toured across the United States, performing on acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, and electric bass in both solo and group settings.

Life took a new turn when he met his wife, Dawn, in Tampa, Florida. Together they raised five daughters, and music took a back seat for the next 25 years. In 2005, a move to the mountains of North Carolina opened the door for Doctor Paul to reconnect with his musical roots—bringing his story full circle and setting the stage for the next chapter of his artistic journey.
