Yesterday I got a chance to record myself doing some covers of System Of A Down, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AlterBridge and Korn. I knew some of them at one point in my life but had to relearn them as well as the lyrics for all of them.
I make a few mistakes on some of them in terms of missing notes, mixing notes as well as not having the right pitch while singing. All in all this is just a way for me to attempt doing something with myself creatively, I while I can show songs I can 'kind of' play as well as what kind of music I can create myself. All a learning process filled with trial and errors.
If you have any constructive criticism about my vocal style or guitar playing then don't hesitate to let me know what I could do to improve. Also if you like the originals and maybe want to jam to make them into full songs then let me know about that too.
Take care everyone, will get more videos or songs up as soon as I can.
Just uploaded my vocal cover of Korns' new song Love And Meth I put on Youtube a few weeks ago, now currently charging my Go Pro to perform the song again with fewer mistakes and with guitar this time. Been playing it all morning but couldn't record the song correctly because I kept saying 'We' in the chorus when I thought it was 'I', turns out its only 'I' during the final chorus so I kept screwing up ruining multiple takes...although just learning the guitar part today made it difficult as well but I think I can get it now in hopefully one take once the camera is charged again.
If anyone reads these, you should send a message with a song request and I'll see what I can do. ;)
I am starting to write song lyrics to try and get vocal rhythms down and eventually change around the lyrics and guitar order to make sure the songs are effective as possible which still telling a story.
I currently have 6 and a half songs worth of guitar tabs at the moment. (The other 2 songs will be coming as soon as I get them recorded and organized to listen to.)
Woke up yesterday not feeling very well, just stressed out about money and stuff; but all it made me want to do was sing my heart out ....yell, scream, whatever you want to refer to the videos as.
If you haven't yet seen the vocal+guitar cover videos uploaded yesterday then i suggest you look so you can either enjoy or give me pointers. I recorded them on Go Pros so not very much bass in my vocals but you get the idea..
I decided to do Corey Taylor vocals from both Slipknot and Stone Sour, love the music, helps strengthen my voice trying to reach some of his notes as well as playing guitar at the same time can be a massive challenge but great practice.
Messed up a few times on all of them since I didn't practice before I turned the camera on, but that was the point, being put on the spot and seeing what you can do with your one and only shot.
I'll rerecord some of them eventually in higher sound quality and hopefully less mistakes, even having a few extra musicians involved would be ideal.
Listening to my old music again is hard....I mean, we had a lot of good times doing it but we kind of sucked....Will be recording new demos soon which feature some of the same riffs as well as new ones in the hopes of recruiting new members and be able to perform again. More updates to follow eventually.
