Quite the busy night at Italian Kitchen. To top it off, Johnnie made me a special dish;0P Allitgator with Andouille Sausage, garlic, hot peppers and tomatos. The juices were amazing soaked up with a little crusty bread... Mm-mm-good!
It was a great time for all! Had a bunch of young muscians stand up and take their turn. The youngest is going in to 7th grade. Andy did an amazing job playing tunes he'd never seen before. Using his ears when he didn't know the changes... Noah played trumpet, guitar and piano. Amazing... Travis played alto and then set himself at the piano for a few tunes! To top the night off, every jammer enjoyed fresh, hot nachos with all the fixings. I chose the Talapia with Cilantro Sauce. You gotta try it!
I forgot to mention in the newletter that on Tuesday 7/26 at Riveras, we will have another jam session. This time with the Grayslake Combo Workshop! Stop by and listen, then whip out your horn and do your thang;0)
Steven needed my car for work delivering ribs and chicken for Gus at The Pit last night.. He dropped me off for my Italian Kitchen gig and picked me up after we both finished. We then ate some great Italian food;o) We split Octopus Basilico and Penne al Matriciana. Mmmm...
Had some fun with Jazz Wave tonight. Nick Drozdof was leading the trumpets in some Maynard tunes! It's always a treat when he sits in;0) To top off the evening, Greentown Tavern supplied their amazing mango salsa and chips. This stuff isn't on the menu, but it's oh, so good!!!
Went to Riveras with posters for the upcoming student performance I'm setting up for this Wednesday 6/29/11 from 6-8 PM. Grayslake High School jazz combo Lydian Concept will be featured. If you bring your horn, I bet you could sit in... While there, I enjoyed a tasty cup of black bean soup with a dollup of sour cream and tortilla crumbles on top8)
On Father's Day I took my Dad to Italian Kitchen for a family feast. The six of us split shrimp pizza, eggplant parmegian, lobster and crad rissoto, and an amazing seafood linguini with garlic/wine sauce.
I've missed a few nights. I had Aroncini at Italian Kitchen. I'd never had one of these stuffed meatballs before. It was like a giant cheese curd with rice and seasoned ground beef. My son Steven stopped by after his new job and ate half. Minestrone soup chock full of veggies was also on the table;0)
Enjoyed a large helping of Gnocci with Vodka Cream Sauce from Philly G's last Wednesday night after a terrific night of jazz. Wonderful comments were very welcome;0)
Last Thursday, we had a traditional pizza dinner with pepperoni at Italian Kitchen. Quite yummy! Also had minestroni soup. Mm,mm, good...
