Thought I'd post this to celebrate the completion of the "Tortology" CD. It's a song I wrote about Sydney's homeless as a result of walking out of the Old Supreme Court Building late last May. It's not homophobic - the reference to "fag end light" is a reference to cigarettes, the only source of lighting available for those who bunk down there. And the reference to King St is the City, not Newtown. I raise these issues as there has been some confusion at live performances.
This is hopefully the final version. Changed a couple of lyrics from the original and added some harmonies. Hope you enjoy
I have just posted the current version of a song "Two Grand Wager" which was co-written by Carol Douglas and myself. I met Carol via the internet on an OMD site. She had a number of songs up which revealed her talent as a songwriter. I actually got to meet Carol in person when she came to Australia a couple of years ago. Carol wrote the lyrics for the track based upon a true life incident about which she'd read. She heard a song of mine called "A Paris Tale" which was also based upon a true life incident and asked if I would be interested in writing the music and recording it. The music literally wrote itself from the lyrics and I had a ball doing it. I heard from Carol today and she told me that the song is going to be played on Pat Edison's show on Radio Caroline this Sunday 25 October, 2009 between 10am and 2pm GMT. That equates to 9pm to 1am Sydney Eastern Summer Time. Radio Caroline was at the forefront of the pirate radio boom which sought to smash the BBC's monopoly in the late 60s and early 70s and was the inspiration for the recent movie "The Boat That Rocked". You can hear the show over the internet at http://www.radiocaroline.co.uk or on SKY Channel 0199 If you get the chance to have a listen, please do. And if you like the song, let them know.
