I've heard that Basie once said, "In this band, it's not about how many notes you play, it's about how many you don't that matters."
That's one reason Seth and I make such great music. It's how we're wired. We play the shit that moves you. We leave the bullshit to the cover bands.
Basie's Decca recordings from the '30s are great. But I'm always listening to Basie's Atomic shit from the '50s. Holy Macaroni.
Stop and listen.
On September 11th we'll be playing the show of a lifetime at a great venue, Cafe Du Nord. We will be opening for Dax Riggs; one of our favorite artists. In fact if someone asked, "If you could open for anyone, who would it be?" Promptly I would answer "Dax Riggs". Hands down Dax is my favorite artist making music today. His lyrics are dark and artistic and his vocals are the best I have ever heard.
Get your tickets now before the show sells out. I also recommend getting his albums - We Are Night Sky (Deadboy and the Elephantmen), We Sing of Only Blood or Love, and his new album, Say Goodnight to the World.
