This music video is the first I’ve filmed in Oklahoma and I’m thrilled to have worked with Nik and Lamar. We ended our shoot at midnight in front of my house w/ a police car & one crazy arrest on the front lawn! My neighbors were all watching! It was a blast!
I wanted to send a quick note to all of you and let you all know that Howie Day’s new album, ‘Sound the Alarm’, hit stores today and that you should check it out! I wrote one of the songs with Howie and our good friend, Kevin Griffin, called “Undressed”. I think the album is great, and think you will agree! I'm honored to be a part of it and hope you'll check it out!

I recently entered the recording studio in Norman, Oklahoma and laid down a few acoustic versions of some new songs. I not only had a blast but now have the desire to share these raw versions with you and I’m very proud of what happened when we pressed the red record button.
The writing process for my next album has been a bit different this time around. I have really wanted to keep a nice balance of writing, recording, performing, and living my life and believe it’s working for me to make the album possible.
Along the way, I realize I have accumulated a large amount of songs (past and present) and want to share them with you. I’m very excited to tell you that the ‘Twenty Something’ EP is only the beginning! Team Graham Colton has been hard at work in finding the best way to give all of you the option to have all the B-sides, live tracks, and demos you can handle. Stay tuned for that info!
Hope you like the new EP!
Ok… so I have some explaining to do. I know I have been absent and there’s a totally good reason for it. I have been doing my best to keep those of you on facebook and twitter updated daily but have some exciting news for you ‘journal’ only readers. Lastly, I’m hitting the road next month for a week and FINALLY visiting my west coast friends. I know I’ve promised you all too many times that new West Coast dates were on their way and now the time has come! I will be playing acoustic shows along with Bryan Greenberg & Curtis Peoples in Hermosa Beach, San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland. Thanks so much for all the support. See ya soon.
Happy Valentines day...belated. I wanted to tell you about my weekend because it was definitely one of the best ever! I was lucky enough to be invited to perform at the AT&T Pro-Am golf tournament in Pebble Beach, CA. My hosts were some very kind people who run a little small business called 'Yahoo.' I think they're on to something with this Yahoo.com thing.
Although I spent a little time doing radio promo in Monterey, CA, I never actually made it to Pebble Beach. I’ve been told that this area is often called 'heaven on earth', and now I understand why. This is truly one of the most incredible places I have ever seen... let alone perform! I arrived at the Spanish Bay hotel a few hours early and immediately was driven to the 18th green to watch some of the pros/celebrities finish their round of golf. I was greeted by some of the nicest people at Yahoo and had some great food in a private luxury box over looking the fairway. Aside from the scenery and course itself, this tournament is one of the most famous in Golf because of all of the celebrities who attend.
I hung out for a few hours and returned to the hotel to get ready for the event. I had a great group of people taking good care of me, so we decided to visit the bar for a quick drink before heading over to the event. I'm not one to talk about star sightings because I think my best ones are pretty embarrassing. There was Britney that one time in LA at Starbucks but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, I'll get to it. Justin Timberlake having a drink with Freddie Couples (Golf Legend). That was certainly a cool 'dude hang' to witness. I wish I could say I said hello and he was a huge fan of 'Cellophane Girl' and we did shots but I let it be.
The event was incredible and I was honored to share the stage with my pal Dave Barnes. We each played around 30 minutes and the kind folks at Yahoo couldn’t have been any cooler. I can't thank them enough for their support and hospitality. I really hope I can come back next year.
I'm writing you from Memphis, TN on my way home from Nashville where I spent the week writing new songs. I've spent plenty of time in Nashville and have lots of friends there so it was a great place to return and be creative. I worked with some great artists and wrote a handful of songs, all of which sounding very different from one another. I ended up finishing the week with two new songs that I'm most excited about. The first is a tune called 'A Long Time Running'. It's one of those you hear the band playing it before it's even finished. The last song i finished minutes before i left for the airport. It's called 'Out in the Open' and has a real nice sweet spot to it while still rockin' a bit. I’m really feeling great about what developed over the week. I'm bringing in my pal Tommy Walter from Abandoned Pools to Oklahoma next week for a week long writing retreat. If you see he and I around town, give him hell about being a USC Trojan fan....ha ha.
When asked to describe my first ‘Rock Boat’ experience I can honestly say that it’s one of the best times I’ve ever had. In past years, I’ve been fortunate enough to perform and share the stage with many of the artists aboard and was once again honored to be in such great company. My career journey has been one that has crossed paths with so many of my musical heroes and ‘The Rock Boat IV’ was certainly a milestone. I saw familiar faces in the crowd and made some new friends. I can’t think of a better place to be in mid January than aboard a ship with some of the best music fans in the world…..in the Caribbean! It really does feel like a big community of people that I know I’ll meet again. I said hello to new friends in the lunch line after seeing them in the front row at my show. I shared stories with fans at the bar about when I visited their town and when I’ll return. I still live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and love that it feels like a big small town. I love to wave to people on the street and see familiar faces everywhere I go. This experience on the boat feels like home. I can’t wait to see all of you again soon. Cheers, Graham
Hello Friends, I hope the new year finds you all healthy and happy. I just returned from LA after one of the best writing weeks I've ever had. I can't explain why or how it happens, but something was in the air this week and it was really flowing out of me. I have often joked about my style of writing being mostly centered around breakups and high school 'love and loss,' but have recently been stretching a bit with my thoughts and ideas. It's a little scary at times to let the lid off what is wanting to come out, especially when it's painful or unfamiliar, but this week it really happened. I was saddened with the news of two friend's deaths (separately) this week and could do nothing else but channel my feelings into songs. Ironically, a song called 'Time to Say Goodbye' was written (w/ Raine from Our Lady Peace) before I learned of these events. Somehow I feel there's a reason for why that song came out the way it did. There are a few more I am very proud of including 'Broken Satellites' and a song idea I have been wrestling with for awhile called 'Twenty Something.' I hope to record these songs soon and debut them to you. I am very excited to see some of you on the Rock Boat. Thanks so much for your support.
Hey All, Happy New Year!! I have been non stop since the fall our began and don't have any plans to settle down any time soon. The fall tour was a smashing success and I can't believe how many of you showed up!! Thanks to Michael Tolcher and Bryan Greenberg! Great artists and great tourmates. I spent a little time at the beach after Christmas and just returned from New Orleans where I opened for my pals, Better Than Ezra at the House of Blues. I hold a very special place in my heart for New Orleans and haven't been able to spend much time there since my writing sessions in '03. Better Than Ezra and Kevin Griffin have been so great to me over the years and I was once again honored to share the stage with them. I'm gonna take the tree out to the curb and watch as much football as possible before I fly to LA to write and record some new songs. I have sessions with Kevin Griffin, Emerson Hart (Tonic) and a few others coming up so I am way excited!! For those of you coming on the rock boat, I'll see ya there!!!!
