CJS commences Junglebop Workshop /// Summer 08

The Chicago Junglebop Workshop is about to be in full effekt!

1st mondays from June through August 08 will be devoted to the art of the burgeoning Chicago contemporary jazz scene, Junglebop, at Reggies Music Joint

All interested creative improvisers are invited to this monthly event & welcome to try their hand with other local junglebop stalwarts. A core group will showcase a set then the jam session will commence. RESPEKT

The Summer 1st mondays will lead to a major blowout event for The Chicago Jazzfest with the Chicago Junglebop Syndicate 3rd Annual Post Jazzfest Party at Reggies Aug 31st 08 for several crazy sets of live junglebop and open jam for jazz musicians we’ve met over the summer through our workshop.

The Chicago Junglebop Syndicate and IZM Records is proud to announce the upcoming release of both a live DVD and CD called "ITS TIME" currently in production. The release is a showcase of both the Syndicate's activity (Weeds & Metzli Gallery) and the 4th fridays Workshop (dec 06-march 07) from The Muse CafeThe Workshop was hosted by: Dave Z Marsalek - jungle traps/founder {SPIZM/Doppler Shift/Trioizm}, John Be$cup - electric trumpet {Steak Fries Reprise/Crystal Gravy/Spacehorn7000/Jazztronik Experiment}, & Matthew Golombisky - electric bass/likable noise {Ears and Eyes Records/QMR Plus/Zing/The Other Planets/Tomorrow Music Orchestra} with special guests: Aaron Koppel - guitar {Aaron Koppel Quartet) & Jon Markese - bass {Doppler Shift}The videographer of film & production is Crazy Lombardo & audio recordings by John Bescup.The release of ITS TIME is being set for late August 07' (celebrating the 1-year anniversary of the CJS). A CD release party is being planned for WEED's (at dayton & weeds st, at north & clybourn red line stop).In congruence, the CJS Workshop will be re-instated on 4th fridays, starting summer 07'. keep posted. The workshop is an ongoing monthly event, exploring Junglebop and acts as a melting pot for improvisers to jam new vocabulary in jazz within the standards, and for the core of CJS to workshop new material & arrangements. all are welcome to attend, to jump in, and cut your teeth on 200 + bpm junglebop!More details on the way.
