THIS IS AN ALL AGES SHOW!! Mill Valley’s historic Sweetwater Music Hall will host the return of Elephant Listening Project on March 1st, 2013. The event includes a silent auction of valuable services and collectible items donated to ELP in the wake of their devastating post-gig car accident last summer. The generosity of the Bay Area music community cannot be overstated and collections organized to support Smyth and Uzi generated an amazing assortment of items available for bid at the Sweetwater performance in March. Auction items include private performances by popular local bands and collectibles including autographed memorabilia from Lynyrd Skynrd, Metallica, Santana, Exodus, Cindy Blackman of Lenny Kravitz, Prarie Prince of The Tubes, renowned poster artist Stanley Mouse and many more! Elephant Listening Project (ELP) is a power pop/rock band from Marin County consisting of songwriter Erik Smyth (lead vocal/guitar) Loring Jones (drums) Steven Winter (bass) and Danny Uzi (lead guitar). The music is guitar driven and melodic with well-crafted songs as its core. Members of the group have played in The Mo’fessionals, The Coup, Montrose, and Chrome Johnson among others. This supergroup is known for their musical mastery and their experience is always evident in their live performances. Opening the show is another "supergroup", Biambu's Groove Room!! In the early morning hours of August 19th, 2012 Smyth and Uzi were severely injured returning to San Anselmo after a show in Cotati when they were hit headon by a driver speeding the wrong way on Highway 101. (http://sananselmofairfax.patch.com/articles/localmusiciansinjuredinheadonhighway101crash) The March 1st Sweetwater show signifies the band’s triumphant return to the big stage and miraculous physical recovery. With the aid and resources of friends, family and the Bay Area music community, Smyth and Uzi healed and recovered and remain dedicated to making music despite the lasting effects of the accident. ELP took great advantage of the performance hiatus by writing and recording tracks for their forthcoming debut full-length album which will be available for sale and download as early as this summer. A 3-song CD teaser from the upcoming album will be given away free to the first 200 guests to arrive at the Sweetwater show. Band members are available for interview by contacting management at the phone number or email address provided above.
