Batsile Ondaground Ramasodi is a rapper/M.C born and raised in the then dusty township that birthed the jazzy signature sound of Atteridgeville.
He’s been building his career as a Hip-Hop artist since he started training as an actor at the Tshwane University of Technology in 2004. Since then he has been doing extensive shows around the country with some prominent names while still being able to remain below the radar.
In 2004 he digitally released his first mixtape independently named CYPHERS FROM THE UNDERGROUND which did well building his street credibility. 2005 saw him put his skills as master of ceremonies to the test by hosting the CASTLE WORLD WIND TOURS around major cities in South Africa, sharing stages with groups such as SKWATTA KAMP, NEW AKADEMIKS, PROVERB and ZUBZ.
In 2006 another digital mixtape was released fondly named THE PLOT THICKENS. This cemented his presence in the Pretoria scene and launched him into the Johannesburg market. Two of his tracks were featured in HYPE magazine mixtape Vol. 12 as well as a spread about him in the issue. In 2007 HYPE magazine continued showing love to this young Hip-Hop artist by featuring him in the HYPE photo shoot in issue #22 alongside KOLDPRODUK.
He also performed at the first annual BACK TO THE CITY hip-hop festival held in Newtwown on Freedom day 27th April, and every year thereafter to date with names such as THE FEDERATION, ABDUS, MARAZA, PRO, AKA, TEARGAS, HYMPHATIC THABS, REASON and lots more. Other shows he has featured on are the 2008 HYPE MTN TOURS which featured him alongside FLEX BOOGIE, TUKS, PROVERB, CRACKBOYS as well as the 2009 MTN EXPLODED shows at the BLUESROOM where he opened for OBITA.
Ondaground is still independent and is working on more mixtapes to hopefully get his name on everybodys’ tongue. Currently he has a project, B.O.YWonder Radio On Ep (Batsile. Ondaground. Y wonder) which is doing the rounds and is doing great.
“Contrary to what you think his name might suggest, Ondaground’s music and persona are far from the underground. With the element of performance at the peak of his agenda he’s the cat to overtake if you take your stage game seriously” – Simone (HYPE MAGAZINE)
