"The Sept. 7 press release of the West Coast Songwriters (WCS) Association confirmed what many Sherwood residents already knew — we have an exceptional musical talent in our midst....Those of us in Sherwood, who have had the good fortune to hear her perform, usually hear pieces of our lives in her lyrics...I would encourage everyone to take a break one day soon, visit the iTunes website, and listen to some of the songs from her “Restore” album. My granddaughter’s favorite is “Lillian’s Rainbow,” and mine is “What if He Rides.” Have fun watching the YouTube music video to “Know Me,” which was filmed partially at Sherwood’s Symposium Coffee. You can also download her winning song “I Know it’s You” and a popular favorite “Just Like Coffee” from reverbnation.com/nicolewells. “WCS NW CHAPTER 2012-13 BEST SONG: Nicole Wells for “I Know It’s You.” Nicole started writing songs as a creative outlet at age nine. Having grown up in a musical family that traveled and sang together, her love of songwriting was fostered through experience at an early age. As a huge fan of Jon Foreman (Switchfoot) and heavily influenced by songwriters like Amy Grant, Nicole’s folky Americana-pop focuses strongly on the deeply personal. Oftentimes her songs draw on stories of her own life or those she’s most impacted by, and speak to what it means to trust, to heal, to love and forgive...Nicole is deeply honored to have received the win for “best song” with her newest song “I Know It’s You” and is excited to represent Portland at the West Coast Songwriters Finals in California this August.”
