Ready…Steady…GO! Run, don’t walk, to Mostly Python at the Toad-In-The-Hole Pub to see the greatest living RUTLES tribute band, THE REBUTLES, like you’ve never seen them. That’s right, you’ve never seen them! That’s because Sonoma County’s answer to “Celine Dion sings Weird Al Yankovic” has never played before! But that all ends September 20, when The ReButles reveal to the world what is meant by “parody squared”. That’s what happens when you spoof the Rutles, the world’s best parody of the BEATLES, the greatest band in rock history... Only, I guess I just revealed it, didn't I? Oh, dear... Gone and spoilt it... Oops.
Songwriters-in-the-round event, hosted by Jon Gonzales. In Nashville style, we will "pass the mic", taking turns playing our original music.
My friend, singer-songwriter Celia Ramsay, will be joining me in this house concert, for which she is also the host! In my favorite format, we will be mixing it all up: sometimes joining forces with instruments or voices, sometimes going solo. The element of surprise will have a front row seat. Celia has made a name for herself in an unlikely set of musical circles. Where Celtic dancers gather for lively traditional country-style dancing, she is a sought-after “caller”, who guides the dancers through the movements. She is also a collector of songs from the region. But then, she writes. This is what brought her to my attention. Lovely, sometimes quirky songs with jazzy influences, all delivered with her equally lovely voice. Check out her website, celiaramsay.com. For a real waker-upper, check https://youtu.be/iUwsqWu9R5w. You won’t be disappointed. The venue is a stunning historically significant home in the Berkeley hills. It has been beautifully restored. I enjoy just spending time there. It will be a great place to hear us. Reservations must be made in advance to attend. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with "House Concert" in the subject line to request tickets and directions. Show begins at 8:00.
I'll be performing "The Devil In My Cup" at the San Rafael West Coast Songwriters Playoff. Having earned "Best Song" at one of the montly competitons this year, I'll be returning to compete my winning song against all the other monthly qualifiers. The winner is invited to compete in Berkeley at WCS's Grand Finals.
West Coast Songwriters Live Competition. Event judged by industry professionals. I have won before. Maybe again -- who knows? Either way, good music guaranteed.
