Jon Niehaus - Project Wolfpack Drummer / Press

““Because of the diversity of our backgrounds, we have some very unique songs in our setlist,” Niehaus said. “People are surprised when we play some of them. One minute we’ll do something like ‘Run to You,’ by Bryan Adams, and then we’ll turn around and do something completely different. Every song has a different type of feel, but we’re still able to make it consistent and enjoyable. With us, people are going to get variety and exceptional vocals, and they’re going to have a good time.””

“I have endured such an unbounded succession of shredders who wish to appear in the New Blood column that the appearance of a package such as Niehaus'comes on like a welcome breath of fresh air. Instead of the double bass pumping speed deamons who have become New Blood fare, Niehaus gave us a tasteful selection of bossa novas and ballads that demand subtle and restrained drumming. Niehaus keeps perfect time with a squeaky-clean drum sound, while never overextending his reach. Ok, the low key nature of Niehaus' drumming hardly turns heads, but there is an art to holding back just emough to bring the melody to the forefront. Don't underestimate drummers like Niehaus. He is helping to keep alive an important tradition that can be traced back to such legendary session players as John Guerin and Hal Blaine. We salute you!”
