“Howlin Smurf - Human Zoo. Essex boy Nick Sherreard aka Howlin Smurf returns with his second album and it's a corker. Bluesy folk, straight ahead rockers and a little psychedelia thrown in for good measure. Reverend James and Sally Ride are insanely catchy mini biopics, Spots On The Horizon and Meat Puppets feature terrific harmonies and lovely closer Let You Down may we'll be the best thing Howlin Smurf has ever done. Lyrically this is top notch stuff - the title track even manages to tackle the thorny subject of the 'Jeremy Kyle' generation with wit, tongue firmly stuck in cheek and an ear worm chorus. Clever. And the medley Three Piece Suite is a work of genius. If you've ever wondered what a mash up of Slim Chance, Bo-Diddly, The Monkees and The White Stripes might sound like then look no further. A triumph - 8”
