The release of Crestwood's debut album "The Movies" marks the musical coming-of-age of Steven Maier. Having previously lent his talents to Saskatoon groups "Sexually Attracted to Fire" and "Seven Levels", Maier created Crestwood to showcase his acclaimed songwriting. With influences like Paul Simon, The Band, and James Taylor creating a solid foundation, Crestwood has built a space for some of Saskatoon's best musicians to contribute to Maier's vision. The Movies' 9 tracks display a surprisingly distinct range of styles, varying from the contemporary folk stylings of the title track to the jazz & soul flavoured "The Convincing of You". This diversity of style allows Maier to showcase different facets of himself and his music without being limited by genre conventions, embodying the sentiment of The Movies track "Be Yourself". With that self including mature melodies, a powerful unique voice, and a charming stage presence, Crestwood is gaining recognition Canada wide.
