LISTEN - Monday nights @ Birdy's have become a great haven for songwriters. Help spread the word, and support live, original, and 98.273% homegrown music. ________________ Chat with the Cat with the guitar. Another great Monday night acoustic show @ Birdy's. Allow me to elucidate. Ethan Olvey (Eroy) and I (Charlie Krone) may be above you, both spiritually and physically (as the stage is elevated), but you can still interact with us! We are cool that way. We will play our own stuff, we will borrow from others, and we will chat (but not too much, oh no) with you. Combine that with a kickin' beer selection, and you have yourself a fun Monday night! Ethan's breathy, soulful voice will drive a powerful edge when it's called for. I am reminded of Cat Stevens with a sprinkling of southern rock, but a modern twist with respect to song selection. He has an expressive nature that really grabs you. Check out some of his youtube vids here: http://www.youtube.com/user/EthanERoyOlvey Me? I'm Charlie Krone. I have a song about strippers, a new one that I'll debut about my sister (not related songs...), and a helping of other little stories that I decided required musicalizing. It's a word. Look it up. I'll probably throw in a Beck song I just learned and maybe a couple of 90's/80's throwbacks. http://www.reverbnation.com/charliekrone See you next Monday! Peace and Carats, Charlie Krone et Ethan Olvey (by proxy)
TWO SHALL ENTER, BUT ONLY ONE SHALL LEAVE. Actually, we'll probably both leave, but one will likely be really chafed, and there may be calluses involved. Brent dips the ladle deeply into the well of cover tunes. A stellar and soulful voice and (last I saw him) a beautiful 12-string provide the medium for one of the coolest songbooks I've heard performed in a long time. Check him out here: http://brentschlemmer.blogspot.com/ Brent and I (Charlie Krone) compliment each other well. Whereas Mr. Schlemmer digs deeply into the heart of music, I merely scrape the cream off the top of the milk jug like my mom used to do in her little Ukrainian village in Philadelphia. Pissed off her grandmother. I will present a helping of guilty pleasures and a peppering of my own songs which draw from tales of tails, invasive medical procedures, and tragic stories of coitus interruptus. I sound like this: http://www.reverbnation.com/charliekrone Be at The Ripple Inn on January 12 - yeah, it's a Thursday. What of it? It's also my dad's birthday, so there will be a tribute to the old man as he is freakin' awesome and more people should be like him. Peace and Carats, Charlie

Dearest Music Enthusiast (if that is your real name), Clip your fingernails so you don't leave any scratches. That's the kind of PASSION a Charlie Krone's AM GOLD show inspires. It's true. A real noodle-scratching collection of acoustic renditions of songs from the 60's through about 12 years ago. What year is it again? Dr. Hook, The Cure, Beck, The Human League, Ricky Nelson, Rick Springfield... no, not that song, a different... one. All of the songs you tried to forget are arrows in my quiver. All of the artists you thought, "wait, who was that now, and where did my girlfriend go?" (there was a lot going on just then) I have them covered. And so, I will personally welcome you to Joe's Grille 2: The Sequel on January 22nd. I will hug you, and I may grind my hips a little. Just accept it as a cultural peculiarity. Rumor is there is no cover charge for the club or my hip-grinding hug. This means you can buy me a Coke Zero with the money you save. Peace and Carats, Charlie Krone
Bear's Place Presents: Socko Alumni Show I’m really excited to announce a special show we’re putting on in Bloomington. Friday, October 15th Bear’s Place will host a “Socko Alumni Show” featuring a wildly diverse showcase of music created by former members of one of Bloomington’s favorite bands. Why just one year ago, these same artists appeared with this same, unmentioned band and sold out The Vogue in Indianapolis, a show that would go on to be voted the year’s bes...t live show in Indianapolis by voters of Indy Metromix sponsored by the Indianapolis Star. Just sayin’… http://indianapolis.metromix.com/music/article/top-10-local-shows/1698142/content King Krone’s AM Gold features an all-acoustic presentation of one-hit wonders, unlikely treasures from the 60's through today, and original (and somewhat irreverent) renditions of - well, just about anything. The song selection is all over the map, but the message is clear - no genre is safe from being performed with the utmost un-processing. The heart of the show will be Joey Welch and Mike Graves. In my opinion, Joey has had the most successful musical career of any of the members of the-band-that-will-go-unnamed. He’s fronted two very successful original bands and boasts a discography of stunningly creative discs, three of which were engineered and produced by Steve Albini of Nirvana and Pixies fame. As a song-writer, Joe has charted with several tunes on the CMJ, his latest debuting at number 11 on the CMJ national chart. Rounding out the show, will be The Raoul Duke Jazz All-Stars playing their unique blend of 60’s funky jazz. So get your babysitter lined up and make plans today to come out for an epic evening of musical shenanigans. Some of these guys haven’t been down to perform in Bloomington for over 5 years and who knows, it might be five more years before they get back here!
Sounds Like: Ben Folds, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Label: None yet
Bio: (Jazz and classical influences, but a heaping helping of singer-songwriter. If Ben Folds played guitar...??)
