I knew Billy when we were young, 20's. I lived in Natchitoches. My sister and I were friends with him and his band. They often played, the local clubs. At that time there wasn't a lot. His father owned a truck stop type place where we all would go for something eat when he and his band played Sportsman Lodge. The place had the best ham and cheese omlets you could eat. This was some 30 years ago. I'm glad he's still playing music and has won some special recongition. Especially the Jim Croce documentary, since Natchitoches was where he played his last cancert at Northwestern State University. His plane crashed later that night as they were leaving. My father was among the officers who worked the crash. Oh to remember when.
