REVIEWS: "Smokin' Roots Crew blends acoustic reggae, folk, and blues with Dylan-esque, psychedelic rap lyrics. An entertaining live act with a modern beatnik aesthetic." --Salvador Reyes, Bay Area Underground.
"The lyrics of the song, Hashish are both trippy and intriguing... nice work."
- Mark Thomas, host of The World Beat KMSU (KSMU.org).
BIO: Vocalist/poet Josh Millican and multi-instrumentalist Bill Wesley established Smokin’ Roots Crew in the summer of 2008.
Josh and Bill are a talented duo, at home around a camp fire or on larger stages with a full band back-up.
UNFORTUNATELY Josh and Bill are both very poor, ugly, delusional, internet illiterate, and have no "connections" in the music industry. In an age where bands need to approach labels ready-made, complete with radio quality masters, glossy photos, and expensive lawyers in tow, the future seems bleak for these hobo troubadours. Still, they make fans and friends with each gig. True practitioners of the bohemian lifestyle, Josh and Bill ignore their poverty and happily count their daily blessings. Josh once said "As long as we can sit back and play our tunes, maybe make a few people smile--well that's just fine!"
CURRENTLY, Josh and Bill wait patiently to be plucked from obscurity as they write new material in garages, parks, and around camp fires.
