Born Deltreas Nicole Schaumburg in the summer of 1986 in the city of St. Paul Minnesota, she was the youngest of three siblings. Her father was a small time con-artist/ pimp/ alcoholic. Her mother like millions of others in the 80’s was addicted to a drug that later proved to be the crack epidemic of generations to come. Under the circumstances of her mother, and a father lost in the streets, it was easy to see she’s had a chaotic life since day one. While her mother struggled from alcohol and drug abuse she did her best on providing a house and a warm meal for her children. Unfortunately, addiction proved to take its toll on her family on a regular basis. There was never any pressure or want to excel in school, and even if there was the stress from home issues were too heavy to concentrate in class.
As a teenager she dealt with self-esteem issues with her weight and had anger issues. By the age of 15 she was sent to a group home. By the age 17 she was deep into drugs and prostitution. Listening to her music she often touches on this lifestyle, even admitting how she has had girls working for her. She’s been to very dark places and survived struggles and hardships that very few have faced. This very long winding road came to a near death experience when she was involved in a high speed shootout. When asked how she survived, her only respond was; “An angel came in front of the dark and brought me back in to the light.” She expresses how a small part of her died that day, a part of her that had no purpose in life. It was then, that precise night when Miss Scarface was born.
She immediately began her musical journey. She had the total attention and support of her brother (Prez) and older sister (Tanise). Miss Scarface’s pain within is being released to the world from the ground up. Her new found calling in music has already had its highlights, with her brother promoting and booking everything and anything possible. She has performed in small taverns and clubs to larger venues such as Karma nightclub, Epic event center and Aqua Nightclub where she hosted her first cd release party. Her determination is that of a superstar. In between working full time and being a full time mother of three she is either in the studio or writing through all hours of the night constantly perfecting her craft. She’s done very well so far gaining exposure in contests such as “Promote my Song,” which was sponsored by B96 in 2008 and the “Battle of the Bands” in 2009 hosted by The Rock nightclub. Promote my Song proved to be a pivotal moment in her career. She gained rave reviews from other local artist and contest organizers. A memorable moment from the contest was her gutsy performance in front of a full house in Epic event center, where she gave a full throttle high energy 20 minute performance 9 months pregnant. Since then her fan base has grown considerably from exposure gained by opening for national artists such as Eightball & MJG, Hell Rell, and Young Dro of TI’s record label Grand Hustle. She’s also opened for Twista in Iowa at club Copa Cabana. These opportunities have served as rewards to Miss Scarface and everyone who supports her and her hard work ethic. To date her greatest achievements would have to be topping the charts on the website Reverbnation.com where she visited the #1 spot for a brief moment but still holding steady in the top 10. The website is a way for local artist all over the world to showcase their talent by selling and promoting their services and ranking the top 1,000 artist in your area. Her most proved achievement was being nominated for the Twin Cities Hip Hop Awards for Best Female Rapper of 2011.
When asked what her goals are for her career she simply says;” To release the Pain within myself in my short time on this earth.” A statement that serves as an explanation of how real and raw her lyrics and music are. She hopes by sharing this pain with her listeners they will understand the darker side of life and seek the light. She also promotes S.P.I.C.Y. an acronym meaning Spread Peace In the Community and Youth. She often expresses belief in the lord, stating that shes been placed here to serve a purpose for “Him”, often quoting the saying ; “For he will not give you what you cannot handle,” Appreciating every low point in her life knowing and keeping faith that she will fly as equally high!
