Charley has been a card-carying dues-paying member of ASCAP since 1997 when he started writing his first songs. Charley has written and composed n early 40 songs since then.
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Charley's grandpa made him his first guitar from wittled wood and a used cigar box. A Vietnam Era Veteran, While in the Army, Charley bought his first factory made six-string at the Post Exchange for five dollars in 1969. Charley has no formal musical training. He is mostly self-taught, although some Army buddies taught him certain chords and guitar licks.
Charley loves to write songs and compose music. He feels music in his soul and it has always been a dominant force in his life. Charley grew up listening to The Grand Ole Opry and watching THe Old Dominion Barn Dance and The Porter Waggoner show on black and white TV in the 1950's. Charley's influences are The Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Gene Autry, Elvis, Tennessee Ernie Ford, The Statler Brothers, The Oak Ridge Boys, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash.
Charley feels that his Christian Songs are his best. He feels that each of them was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Charley is a proud resident of the Bluegrass State of Kentucky.
