Alias Julius’s knack for musical storytelling has been apparent in the years since she first captured the public’s musical imagination. Growing up in Detroit, she began singing at church service at the age of 6, and subsequently pursued her passion for music later in her studies. She became a classically trained musician proficient in brass instruments. Her first love was always pop music. While she was playing Tchaikovsky in the orchestra, she was sinning “Blowin’ in the Wind” in her head. She decided to hang up her brass and pick up a guitar. The transition was difficult, but rewarding. She had found her true calling.
“Fresh, young, and inspiring” is what the Tampa Tribune said about Alias’s debut album “Boondox” in 2003. The album was a blend of roots rock n roll and Americana. The album was an internet radio station sensation topping the Adult Listening charts. 2007 was the year that Alias paired up with guitar extraordinaire Jimmy James to create the compilation album “Two Lane Blacktop”. The album featured new material showcasing Julius’s growing abilities as a songwriter.
