Dan Allard / Bio

Piano driven rock drawn from popular styles and life experiences.

The beginning of 2011 saw the end of Blackstone Heist, Allard's former band. The calling to begin a solo project finally got too loud to ignore. Feeling he could accomplish more doing things his own way, he left the group to actively pursue his writing. Having always loved the popular music of the last half century, and not wanting to draw a line on his influences, his vision is one of musical freedom.

At age 5, Allard found his love for piano on Cape Cod. His grandfather sang with him while miming a player piano, teaching Dan what he knew. Quickly advancing, Allard began taking lessons in piano and music theory both privately and in school. Winning every talent show he entered as a youth, he knew piano was his passion. By age 14, he was playing in local rock bands, releasing his first EP with "Caravan" in high school which was recorded in his piano teacher’s studio. The band had a four-year run in the Providence, RI rock scene. After the break up, Allard spent the next four years working for Guitar Center learning about the latest technologies in stage and sound. Playing with multiple projects at the time, he began recording them to perfect his newly learned skills. Over the next few years, Allard continued to write songs and play with different artists while making his way across the US. Landing in San Francisco, Allard's most notable project "Blackstone Heist" released their first EP in 2009 which was recorded by Jeremy Black (Apollo Sunshine) at Coyote Hearing, and mastered by Bernie Grundman (Grammy Winner). The album saw regional success before the band’s break up.

Currently, back in the studio calling on players of his past, Allard is hard at work writing and recording what will become his first solo release.
