With the people behind them, this rootsy alternative band is ready for lift-off! Hailing out of British Columbia and recently based in San Diego, CA, Sister Speak performs over 100 concerts a year in Canada and the USA. Whether performing as a duo or band, Sister Speak is known for a both uplifting and moving live show. Through compelling vocals, a driving, dynamic rhythm section, rootsy yet gritty guitar stylings, and thought-provoking lyrics, Sister Speak has connected deeply with a diverse crowd of fans from around the globe.
Fronted by Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist Sherri-Anne, their debut ‘Rise Up For Love’ album has been aired and in rotation on radio throughout the USA, Canada and Europe, including CBC radio in Canada, BBC in Europe, and commercial radio throughout southern California and British Columbia.
In 2014, NBC placed Sherri Anne as one of San Diego’s top nine rhythm guitarists, with Sister Speak’s debut album being a “solid, riveting testament.” This paved the way for a ‘Best Pop Album’ nomination at the San Diego Music Awards.
In their first deep and rhythmic song cycle, Rise Up ForLove, Sister Speak authentically convey the raw vulnerability of universal principles and the transformative power of love through their pensive blend of acoustic, blues and world pop. The record was tracked in top of the line analog capability with Grammy Award winning engineer Alan Sanderson(Fiona Apple, Fleetwood Mac) at the helm. Sanderson worked intimately with the band, keeping the emotional content intact while showcasing the bands unique musical ‘vortex’. Mastering engineer Brian Lucey(Black Keys, Artic Monkeys) added a magical finishing touch to this genuinely crafted album.
Sister Speak ultimately gives the sound of ‘Americana’ an edge and the sound of ‘Indie Pop’ a depth usually reserved for folk music. The band’s unique musical pallet has afforded them opening slots for Air Supply, Chris Isaak and Run River North while captivating a diverse crowd of fans from around the globe. With over 100 peformances a year, Sister Speak has played notable venues such as Humphrey’s on The Bay, The Casbah San Diego, The Belly Up, The Namm Show, Hard Rock Cafe Chicago, Mayne Stage Chicago, and festivals throughout the USA and Canada.
With their debut completed, Sister Speak is gearing for extensive touring throughout 2014 and 2015!”
