A bassist for over 15 years, I started in the elementary school orchestra and has played in many different configurations over the years. My influences come from Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Les Claypool, Mike Gordon to name a few.
Having been deeply embedded in the Burlington, Vermont music scene for the past 9 years, I have moved to Albany, New York looking to expand into the Upstate New York music community. From 2011-12 I was the bass for Vermont R&B band Funkwagon and I have had my own bands, 1Q - a progressive/groove/rock trio and Events Are Objects-a larger version of the trio. Formerly the bass player for Vermont banjo legend Gordon Stone (the CD Nightshade was released in May 2009, artists include Page McConnell of Phish on the Hammond organ.)
I am available for recording sessions and private lessons in addition to club sets. Please contact me through my website http://www.jonmccartan.com or email me directly at email@example.com
