Don’t miss your chance to see the next step in the evolution of the Queen of Dub as Kirsty Rock brings you the newly formed Trumystic All Stars - the musical equivalent of an elite special forces unit. Each member of the team wields their weapons to create one of the most exciting live shows on the road today. They deliver a ridiculously skilled and energetic musical experience. What the Trumystic All Stars bring to the stage is an uplifting new sound to the reggae world — incorporating dub essentials, dancehall, hip-hop, pop, soul music and even some genre-bending, skank-infused riddim rock.
Since Trumystic released “Paradise” in 2009, the lineup of the band has evolved and now features members of the Easy Star All-Stars, a band with whom Kirsty has toured the world since the early 2000s. Recruited from the Easy Star All-Stars, Shelton Garner on guitar and Elena Canlas on keys and Ivan Katz on drums adding more fire to the mix with their instruments and their vocals. David Pransky of Toubab Krewe brings the thunder on the bass while Tony Calarco returns to duty on the sax as does the Dept. of Dub on the science of sound.
Forged in the fires of Brooklyn, Trumystic Sound System began as a dub-electronica powerhouse with their first release in 1998, “Product 3.” A few years later and a little heavier on the live reggae vibe, now known only as Trumystic, they released “Current Master” in 2002. Their 2005 release “Dub Power” solidified the dub in the basement sound, held on to some of the hip hop elements and continued to feature the vocal prowess of lead singer Kirsty Rock. In 2009, Trumystic released “Paradise” a beautiful collection of songs that maintained their dub roots while adding in a bit more pop sensibility.
Through all of the incarnations of Trumystic, the one constant has been Kirsty Rock and her amazing abilities on the microphone. Her lyrics and her vocals range from the sweet melody of angels to the cynicism of sinners, touching everywhere in between.
Kirsty Rock, nicknamed the “Queen of Dub”, has deep roots in the NYC dub reggae movement and currently hails from the Green Mountains of Vermont. Known for her vocal prowess as the lead singer for Trumystic, the premier live dub alliance and her recordings and international performances with Easy Star All Stars, Kirsty is always on the move. You can catch up with her on the latest Easy Star Records release Thrillah, First Light, and their highly acclaimed “reggae re-imaginings” Dub Side of the Moon, Radio Dread and Lonely Hearts Dub Band.
Currently Kirsty is touring with Easy Star All-Stars bringing Thrillah around the world & working on her solo album...charging through 2013 with stops in Russia, Portugal, S. America, South Africa and beyond...
