Somewhere between Waco, Waikiki and Le Baiser Sale, the Ugly Cousin Brothers came together to form an Americana duo that’s as much Charles Trenet as it is Merle Haggard, as much Black Flag as it is Buck Owens. Smarter than they look, their songs involve long and winding narratives about everything from a young woman trying to make it in the burgeoning Washington state weed business to an aging baker who’s now near certain that his long-time lover never really loved him at all. Oh, and they play covers, too.
The Ugly Cousin Brothers are Nate Fisher and Charlie Heinemann, long-time residents of Woodinville and participants in the Seattle music scene. Their past projects have included the Whoopsie Daisies and the Repeat Offenders, as well as solo ventures.
