Joe Kady / Bio

Joe began performing professionally in grade school as a singer in rodeo bands and dances around cowboy towns in South Dakota. He has toured extensively including performances in New York City, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Chicago, Anchorage, Boise, and hundreds of cities throughout the U.S. and Europe. Joe has performed in a couple hundred plays and sung in many major musical stage productions, performing eight shows per week in productions like The Buddy Holly Story at the Post Street Theatre in San Francisco, The Hank Williams Story at the Lesher Center in Walnut Creek, and River’s End at Marin Theater. He has sung the roles of Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof, Daddy Warbucks in Annie, Doolittle in My Fair Lady, and many more. He even sang polka music (some in Polish) as the bandleader of The Vibratones in regional theater productions of Evelyn and the Polka King. His most viewed non-musical performance was when Joe Kady played Norman Schwarzkopf for The History Channel.

Joe Kady is a Bay Area solo artist and member of SAG/AFTRA and Actors’ Equity Association performers’ unions. He has a rich, soulful voice and a guitar style featuring CGDGBE tuning on custom-made guitars played through high-fidelity gear. Joe’s acoustic sets draw from a large catalogue of original compositions and distinctive interpretations of songwriters like Bob Dylan, Greg Brown, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Richard Thompson, Leadbelly, Bonnie Raitt, John Prine, Michael Smith, Hank Williams, and Joni Mitchell. Joe also showcases obscure classics and under-recognized composers with whom he’s worked over the years, who have given him a rich collection of music waiting to be recorded.
