Born and raised in the small mountain town of Damascus, Virginia, Sage Cameron takes his small town roots and blends them with big city style. After splitting from the band Smash Thirteen in early 2009, Sage began to focus on creating a new sound for himself. The release of the 2011 album Heart On Hold is the result of all of his efforts. With the help of fellow Smash Thirteen guitarist Jordon Yates on drums, and producer Thomas Greer on bass, Heart On Hold became a raw, rough, no frills piece of work. This new approach to recording provided the sound and energy for the entire record.
In late 2012, Cameron began recording his 2nd release, part one of a two part EP titled, "Mood River". Cameron wore many hats during the making of the EP by writing, producing, and mixing the entire album himself with the exception of engineer Nathan McClure aiding while Sage did his tracking. He made a list of his ideal musicians to play on the record and to his suprise, they all accepted the invitation. Berklee graduate Steven Gregory on bass, world class drummer Nathan McClure, and keyboard/organ virtuoso Don Eanes completed the lineup alongside Cameron. The sound is reminicent of some of our favorite bands from the 60s but with a dark, emotional undertone that flows throughout the entire album. Sage refuses to use computer-based recording as a crutch. "Small inconsistencies are what make music sound like people" Cameron says. Mood River pt. 1 is available now via iTunes, Amazon, and everywhere else music is sold digitally.
After the Release of 2013s Mood River Part 1, Sage left the Mountains of Southwest Virginia and headed straight for Atlanta, Georgia where he has made quite the name for himself in his short four month stay. 2014 has become quite the adventure for Cameron already. An unexpected change of plans landed him smack dab in the middle of Charlotte, North Carolina where he intends to create even more buzz than he had started in Atlanta. The future is bright for Cameron and shows no signs of slowng down. The anticipated release of Mood River Part 2 is just around the bend as well as many Charlotte, NC area gigs. We can't wait to see what else Sage Cameron has in store for us in 2014. One thing is for sure, he will always leave us wanting more.
