Hailing from Mountain Home, Arkansas, Coyote Union is a 5-piece alternative rock band consisting of Jake Sunnerville (guitar/vocals), Jordan Finley (bass/vocals), Michael Lee (drums), Randy Merriam (guitar/vocals), and Wes Dorethy (mandola/guitar/keys/violin/vocals). The band’s sound draws from variety of musical influences such as Brand New, The Foo Fighters, Manchester Orchestra, Switchfoot, American Aquarium, Needtobreathe, The Beatles, Nirvana, Delta Spirit, and Dawes. The band’s main hope is to make music that is honest and relatable to everyone.
What really makes Coyote Union stand out though is their live show. Packed with energy and passion, it at times seems to be only slightly controlled chaos. Every note is backed by equally strong feeling, with the songs in any given set ranging from driving urgency to raging anger to quiet reflection. The crowd is also a quintessential part of every performance. Being invited to dance or sing along with every song, Coyote Union’s live show is one not soon forgotten.
With three years of North American and European touring under their belt, the band has just come back from tracking their first full-length record produced by Bryce Goggin in Brooklyn, New York. The new album touches on many facets of the human experience, including growing up, death, lost purpose, newfound hope, thoughts on the future and nostalgic reflection. With the new record set to release sometime next year, Coyote Union will be hitting the road again in 2016 with a new batch of songs and a fresh ambition. Keep your ears sharp for a show near you!
