Martel is an up and coming group making a solid footprint on the Detroit Indie scene. From earlier projects, they came together in 2009 to form what they thought would only be a small side project, but evolved into an unexpected larger pulse. The compelling trio embraces the struggles of their lower middle class origins, and it gives their music a rebellious overtone resembling a Death Cab for Cutie vibe with a modern day Johnny Cash influence. Themes reflecting tattered relationships, binge drinking, and nightmares are woven into a balance of recklessness, and survival. Through all of this, the dynamic guitar riffs latch on, and bring you into a calm focus for how it all fits together.
Martel consists of Steve Lupinski (Guitar- Lead Vocals), ? (Bass- Vocals), and Jeff Lupinski (Drums- Vocals). Since the release of their latest EP “What the Hell?”, they have hit the number one slot for Indie music on Reverb Nation, and their title track “Vacancy” debuted at number 6 on Tap Detroit’s top 10 (tapdetroit.com). They have played notable venues such as the Crofoot in Pontiac, the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, and more than sixty other stages around the Detroit Metro Area. As their EP gains momentum, they will be launching into their 2014 schedule. Find them at your nearest venue!
