The Whiskey Charmers sound is hard to classify but falls into the realm of Country Noir/Gothic Americana with haunting melodies that tell stories of the open road, whiskey, and chasing a cure for incurable heartache. Brett Callwood of the Detroit Metro Times says “The Whiskey Charmers truly create the aural equivalent of crying into a tumbler filled with bourbon, bemoaning a lost love. There’s no ice added.” A fan recently described their music as “riding through the Mojave Desert in a convertible with the top down.” In another attempt to classify their music, one fan left a show calling it Chris Isaak Shoegaze Americana. Another fan just stepped back and said simply……”Fuck”.
A relatively new band, The Whiskey Charmers formed in 2013 and have performed around the Detroit area, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Kentucky and West Virginia, Minneapolis, Colorado and Wyoming. They will be in Kentucky this October to appear for the second time on NPR’s “Red Barn Radio.”
This fall they will be recording their first full length album, set for release in Spring 2015.
