Being an Army brat, Curtis changed locations and schools several times. It was one of those changes in schools that brought him into the world of music. Upon moving to Darmstadt, Germany in 1983 (8th grade), he found that the school had an extra period (7 instead of the 6 he had in Hampton, VA). To his surprise, the school placed Curtis into Beginning Band instead of the old standby, Music Appreciation. Not planning on being a "band geek" and not wanting to bring home a brass instrument, he decided on drums...knowing that he, and more importantly, his parents, would only have to deal with sticks and a drum pad for 6 weeks...25+ years later, he has progressed from the drum pad to a 10pc Pearl kit with an impressive array of Sabian cymbals. He has played on several continents and countless venues. In an effort to be a more rounded musician, Curtis has dabbled with guitar and bass. His musical quest has even brought him into the world of audio, both live and studio. His primary style is Modern Rock with a side of Progressive Metal to liven things up. Influences range from old school metal (Dokken, Loudness, Anthrax) to Progressive/Power Metal (Symphony-X, Dream Theater, etc) to Hard Fusion (Tony MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, Greg Howe) with a little bit of everything else.
