In Urgency began its formation in Oxford, Ohio in the winter of 2011. Jordan Grubbs, Cooper Johansen, and Josh Rees were attending school at Miami University and played music together in the local bar scene.
With Johansen's graduation approaching they decided to get serious about making music. The resulting work convinced Johansen to move to Winter Park, FL to study Recording Arts at Full Sail University in the fall of 2011.
Shortly thereafter Rees graduated and made the move to Florida as well.
The trio then wrote, recorded, and performed their music during the summer months of 2012 under the alias, SKLC. After a successful DIY summer tour the band met Lawrence Gamble who was also attending Full Sail. Lawrence then introduced Andrew Rapier to group, at which point "In Urgency" was formalized.
Currently the band is recording an album for a 2013 release. Preparations are also being made for an onslaught of performances throughout Florida, as well as a summer route with stops between Orlando and Chicago.
