I Am Vengeance is a melodic thrashy heavy metal band that originates from Minneapolis Minnesota. In 2004 Matt Seely started writing an album without knowing that it would later become an established band in the metal scene of the Twin Cities. It's taken not only years to complete the debut album, but also to to find members suitable to play its content. Robert Fast was the first to join the band. Matt and Rob worked together at a local restaurant, and having a cd given to him from Matt, Rob came into work one day humming the intro to "Infect The Earth" which later became the opening track on the album. Impressed and flattered, Matt asked to jam, the rest is history. Jesse came down from Canada to work in Minneapolis and was introduced to Matt by a friend who knew I Am Vengeance was in search of another guitar player. Jesse fit perfectly and had a heavier more intricate yet thrashy style that could complitment and add to Matt's already established project. Guitars for the album were already recorded for the album - as a result, the live performance differs slightly from the album with Jesse's input often being said as a "better representation of the band as a whole." Mike Fisketti was added to the lineup on vocals by introduction to Matt by his friend/business partner Mike Byrne in their recording studio - Transient Audio LLC. Fisketti had past experience touring and doing label work with Martyr AD, and Enola Grey - both local bands to the Twin Cities. Fisketti brought heavy, harsh vocals which still yet ring clear and are understandable which is hard to find among metal bands with similar vocal styles. Nick Jackson was the last to join, bringing a tapping heavy style of bass to the lineup - also making the live performance slightly different as the album had the bass competed by Matt before Nick came along.
Heavy, melodic thrash death metal is probably the best way to describe the band. "Infect The Earth" is their debut album, which has a heavy topic of human involvement of the destruction of the planet, as well as some random fun local stabs at the weather Minnesotans experience in the winter. It was recorded and mixed by Matt Seely in his studio, Transient Audio LLC in Minneapolis, MN between 2010-2013.
