There’s a lot more to country music than just singing the words and playing the music. I learned that growing up going to as many shows as I could while the rodeo was in town in Houston, listening to people like George Strait and Brooks & Dunn, and being amazed by how Travis Tritt put that “drive in his country.” Their music spoke to me in ways I wouldn’t understand until I was older in Minnesota, watching Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, and Toby Keith. I never wanted to be them, but I wanted to be like them – to be able to deliver a song in a way all my own that made people understand something about me or something about themselves that they never thought they would. I have never been afraid of hard work, and I have worked very hard to bring my own kind of country music to the stage. It took living through some pretty nasty stuff, along with many good times, for me to finally understand how to bring all of those feelings to my music. Now I want to share it with you.
