The story of Nick Perez dates back to the year of 1995. In the midst of the grunge movement and during a time where guitar solos were not a popular thing to do, a child with a taste for good ol’ rockin music was born. He was brought up with music completely surrounding him. When Nick was 3, he and his dad would listen to music in the car and his dad would be in pure awe of how much of a good ear Nick had for music. He was able to pick out every instrument while listening to such car ride classics as the Elmo’s World Theme song, and Deep Purple’s “Knockin at Your Back Door.” Young Nick’s favorite bands included Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult, Dio, Skid Row, and Great White. (No influence from Dad at all ;)
It was at the age of 10 that Nick picked up a guitar for the first time. Originally wanting to be a bass player, Nick was told by many experienced players that making the transition from guitar to bass would be much easier than from bass to guitar, so Nick took guitar lessons. He played a rendition of Deep Purple’s “Smoke On The Water” in a 6th grade talent show which gave Nick the opportunity to play a guitar solo. Nick loved all the attention that comes with being a guitarist so he decided to stick with guitar. Nick was now practicing scales instead of just power chords. It was not until he went to his first concert, Motley Crue, that really got him to start shredding. Nick was now exposed to a whole new range of bands such as Motley Crue, Van Halen, Kiss, and Poison as well as some bands with guitarists who totally shred up their guitars like Guns N’ Roses, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Ozzy Osbourne.
Nick played in a few bands leading up to his current band, Roxx Armada. Nick also enjoys recording instrumental songs that showcase his guitar playing as well as his younger brother, Joey’s, drumming. These instrumentals combine a combination of melodic, tasteful playing with fast shredding to bring a unique sound that is quite rockin’. Hopefully you will like it and will want to keep coming back for more. Let’s Rock!
