Raised in a home where my mother played piano for our church and my uncles played guitars, banjo and mandolin, I grew up surrounded by people who loved making music.
Before beginning an 11 year career in the U.S. Army, I spent several years in choir, musical theater and summer stock productions.
When I came home after serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom II and III, I needed a creative outlet so I think it was natural that I turned to music.
I am a late bloomer/ self-taught guitar player who started playing in 2010. The majority of my influences come from the massive amounts of Blues music to which I have listened over the past 20 years or so. When I'm playing a lead line, my mind hears the music and then starts hearing blues accents and harmonies, so that's what comes out. I grew up in church on gospel music, so whatever I play that isn't strictly Blues would probably fall into the Gospel category. After teaching myself to play guitar, I began jamming with local musicians, and now I am passing the love and joy of making music on to my own kids.
I am currently the lead guitar player for New Ground Church Worship Team in Caledonia, MI (www.newgroundchurch.org). I play because I love to play. It's my therapy, my worship and the power source that recharges my batteries. Looking for like minded musicians who enjoy playing and creating together.
Thanks for stopping by, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you again soon.
