Throughout over 14 years of performing, Leela Dawson developed a deep passion for music, studying with numerous teachers including Dr. Carol Wolf-Ralf and Jeremy Sorensen. She is trained as a classical singer under the direction of Polly Parr Corretjer, but has expanded her horizons to the Indie/Folk and Rock ‘N’ Roll genres. Over the years, she has taught herself guitar, banjo, ukulele, mandolin and many other instruments.
-Leela was chosen to sing in The High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in February of 2011. She was one of 200 students in the nation to perform live under the direction of Dr. Eph Ely.
-She has won over seven vocal competitions at The University of Maryland under MSMTA.
-She has won a numerous amount of piano competitions, also under MSMTA.
-Leela starred in a Comcast High Speed Internet commercial in 2005 under the direction of Linda Towsend.
-She appeared in National Treasure 2 as an extra.
-She has starred in many Red Cross short films and photo shoots.
-She has performed in 17 musicals since the age of 7, starring in: The Sound of Music as “Marta Von Trapp”, Annie as “Tessie”, Oliver as “Oliver”, Curious Savage as “Elizabeth”, A Christmas Carol as “Fanny”, Once Upon A Mattress as “Lady Larken”, Grease as “Sandy”, and Hairspray as “Amber Von Tussle”.
-Leela appeared on WLRL Round Lake Radio in Chicago, IL covering some of The Beatles songs, as well as singing and playing her own original music.
-In December 2011, she performed at Ebenezer's Coffee House in Washington D.C.
-After moving to Florida for college, Leela recently performed at Sleeping Moon Cafe in Orlando.
