A Massachusetts native, Putnam Murdock has been performing in bands and as a solo artist since 1994. From Red Rock's music festivals with Chief Broom to coffee houses around New England with Reed Foehl, Murdock has been honing his songwriting since the release of his debut EP in 2002.
Murdock's 2008 release, Fiction, is a highly-produced album. A collection of songs spanning a five year window of writing, Fiction made it onto the official ballot of the Grammy's in 5 different categories with the help of his producer/engineer, Bryan Pugh.
The third record, Brand New Widow, was released in October of 2011. Recorded live in one week to tape, Brand New Widow is a contrast to Fiction. Recorded with the same group of musicians, David Cieri, Jordan Scannella, Jay Frederick and Bryan Pugh, this record reveals the musical patience and songwriting prowess (along with co-writer Tom J. Carlisle) of a maturing artist.
