Blue Mountain Mule
Blue Mountain Mule is a high energy, get out of the way, stand up and dance acoustic group that is made up of guitar, upright bass, banjo and mandolin. They run the gamut in their playing style and interests which include everything from blues to folk rock and bluegrass. Their music is full of drive, intricate musicianship and three and four part vocal harmonies. They cover tunes by Tracy Chapman, Tony Rice, Peter Rowan, Blind Faith and Bob Dylan, while putting their own spin on all of it. Their playing can be described as percussive, bluesy, edgy and most of all fresh and interesting. The members of the band have all been collectively playing and in the business for many years performing at many western states festivals, concerts and music venues including Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada and California. Specifically some have performed, under contract with United Artists, at such venues as the Winter Olympics as well as opening for the Beach Boys and Adams Street Fair, to name a few. They have recently come together with their diverse playing interest to create the band, Blue Mountain Mule. The band gets its name by way of the bass player, Sharron, who owns and rides a (Huge) 17.1 hand Draft Mule from the Blue Mountains. Mules are notorious in being tough, smart, sure footed, honest, loyal and curious. They work hard and long and don’t quit on anything. When you are on the back of this monster mule you can see from Canada to Mexico. She can really cover ground when she is on the move and you wonder how you got there. Sounded like a good band name and description of who we are as a band and what we want to do.
Steve Dame on the banjo and fiddle. Russ Evans plays mandolin and Sharron Evans thumps the Bass. As a band they cover lots of ground, work long and hard and are always on the move to turn a tune into something that is their own. Finding ways to make this combination of instruments tell a story and work together in a driving force to get the message out is what the band is all about.
