Thunderbolt / Bio

Critically acclaimed Norwegian classic heavy metal cult band Thunderbolt is ready to take it to the next level with their third effort, “Dung Idols”. With a new, road hardened lineup of strong musicians surrounding Tony Johannessens powerful vocals, the album offers tasty riffs and catchy hooks to heavy metal fans all over the world. The band has garnered critical praise for 2003′s blistering debut album Demons and Diamonds, a near-perfect classic metal album and its darker follow-up Love and Destruction (2006). The sound has evolved even further with Dung Idols, with sounds and inspiration drawn from all facets of metal and hard rock. The voice of Tony is still the main attraction but the band’s sonic pallette is much more varied and spread out over a diverse set of tunes. This time around, the boys opted to focus more on songwriting and less on keeping things in line with the 80′s style metal some have come to identify them with. Lyrically the album is also much more diversified, with topics ranging from historical anecdotes and science fiction to philosophy and meta humor. No worries though, Dung Idols still rocks like hell, as live receptions of biting songs like Fight, Metal Tide and Moderators have clearly shown. Thunderbolt in concert is a force to be reckoned with, with offers of tours and gigs all over the world actually surpassing the boy’s modest fiscal means to engage in them. Tours with artists such as King Diamond, Sabaton, Skew Siskin, Paul DiAnno, Tony Martin, Tim” Ripper” Owens, shared stage with Manowar, Wasp, Udo,Testament etc. as well of tons of gigs on their own have ensured that these guys know what their doing and how a proper classic heavy metal show should be; sweaty, snotty, hairy and utterly shameless. As one Polish fan suggested for their merchandise: “Thunderbolt, kickin’ the main acts ass since ’98″ But Thunderbolt isn’t out to piss on anyone’s black kettle, rather they’re hungry for a place in the heavy metal heavens of their own. With the right backing and connections, Dung Idols might very well be the album that puts them there…
