Songs written/recorded/produced by Alex Monaco/Spooky Blue, except: For You, Slipslidin' and Aimless Lady. Good work my friend!
Originally formed in the late 60's, early 70's The Gladstone Blues Band made it through those drug laced hippy dippy day's fairly unscathed and intact.
Brothers in tone, born of a poor family in the cotton fields of South Carolina these portly young gentlemen rocked venues like "Peaches" in Johnston, SC night after night honing their chops while field hands drunk with spirits, grubbed on the dance floor. Yes, the aroma of beer, lust and jasmine filled the air as we jammed til the Sun rose over the peach tree's.
Yes, we payed our dues to play th' blooze. We rocked "Charlies Place" on E. Boundary in Augusta, Ga, home of the late great James Brown. When a fight broke out, we'd break into the song, The Pusher by Steppinwolf. Why?, Hell I don't know know, seemed like a good idea at the time! In the wee hours, we'd get our $10.00 pay and book a room downtown for eight bucks and throw ice cubes out the window at the street sweeper below. We'd go down to the Shirley Hotel and ask, "The Man," how much a "Lady" would cost. Of course, we never intended to buy, we were just young, dumb and full of,....... energy! And who could forget those wild times downtown at the Whippin Post?
By the blessing's of God we are all still somewhat alive and kicking and ready to rock once more. Stay tuned as we get our shhi,...er,.. stuff together and whip out more of the great tunes you enjoyed so much in the past!
