Slutty Hearts cut and paste the best elements of lo-fi garage rock, Brill Building girl-group pop, and spaghetti-Western grindhouse slither to create a tongue-in-cheek Junior Prom where even the chaperones are young (and slutty) at heart. Lead singer Marisa Laurelle floats charming indie-pop vocal lines over a retro-tinged lineup of organ, guitar and drums, conjuring a swoony, dark-pop vibe that makes you wanna dance and get it on.
Their sophomore album, “Bones In The Snow”, is set to release in Winter 2013 on vintage formats: vinyl (Mercy F**k Records) and cassette (Cassingle and Loving It Records).
PERFORMER MAGAZINE: “If there is a renaissance of ‘60s-style garage rock bands happening in Portland right now, the Slutty Hearts are the sexiest…There is a hint of cabaret or strip tease in their lo-fi, organ sound, but with the sweet vocal-style of indie pop. ”
SSG MUSIC: “Slutty Hearts’ crazy sense of humor and catchy brand of dark-pop coerces you to sing along. Their sweet, retro-pop is delivered through a punk filter, like a gritty Best Coast, a poppy Velvet Underground, and a cynical cabaret rolled into one."
