Acoustic Lighting has performed for 40 years throughout America and lives in Yukon today. He plays a 1967 Gibson J-45.The guitar reflects the wear and tear of the travels thru the nation sharing his songs. Acoustic Lighting has played redwood forest logger's bars and North Beach,San Francisco bistros,Lake Tahoe locales,Colorado camps,Chicago living rooms, the VFW in Lillian Al (!) ,Hermosa Beach,Ca on the Boardwalk, and even once at The Penta Hotel Lounge in NYC (1991)! He has opened shows for John Sebastian at the Sooner Theater in Norman,Ok & Ray Wiley Hubbard at the Paradise Ballroom in OKC.Acoustic Lighting performed with Scott Crawford & Bob Powers at the Prairie Lady in OKC, and led the trio Magic Minstrel in 1976.Magic Minstrel performed at the Prairie Lady and at the 1976 Springs Arts Festival in OKC with Terry McCann. Acoustic Lighting created a successful open mike night in OKC in the late 70's at the Orange Blossom, when there was no place for acoustic musicians to perform. In 1980, Acoustic Lighting met members of Little Feat and Garth Hudson of The Band at Fidelity Sound Recorders while singing with Willie Ray Guy,and recorded "Her Turn to Dance" by Ray Guy.1977-1981 Dan Hackney and Fred performed as"Acoustic Lighting"; an acoustic duo featuring our songs and songs by our friends.In 1983 Fred was cast as Joel in the musical play:"The Book Of Joel", by the late OKC playwright Bill Faulk. He has enjoyed the privilege of performing with OKC and International musicians like James Coffey, Petra Cox,Mark Steven Galloway,Mark Kennedy,Jerry Sharp,Mark Hoevet, Rui de Freitas,and Steve Kelly and more, from fireside to ocean side.
In 2010 Steve Kelly, residing in Wales,and Acoustic Lighting become good friends and collaborators. We continue to work together and share songs all over the world.
