Shadow Circus was formed in 2005 when New York City guitarist John Fontana set out to experiment with creating an album that recalled the magic of the great era of progressive rock. The material soon won praise from former bandmate Corey Folta, and vocalist David Bobick. The project soon turned into a full-fledged band, and the group released their debut, Welcome to the Freakroom" on ProgRock Records. The album was met with critical acclaim and gained a loyal international following in the prog community.
Instead of touring, the band chose to go into the studio and immediately begin work on their next album, Whispers and Screams", featuring a 33-minute epic based on Stephen King's classic novel, The Stand.
